Target: 20 KB

Compress an image to 20 KB

A 20 KB target is preset below, with the same engine as the main compressor. You will see the true resulting size — and a clear warning if 20 KB is not achievable without visible damage.

Your files are processed in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Getting a useful 20 KB image

  1. Add the image. Start with the original, not a screenshot of it.
  2. Leave the target at 20 KB. If the image is a detailed photo, also set a maximum dimension of 800–1200 px.
  3. Keep the output format the same as the input unless you need a specific type.
  4. Compress, then check the badge: Target reached or Closest possible.
  5. Open the downloaded file before submitting it to a portal.

When 20 KB is realistic

The tool never labels an over-target file as done. Transparency, EXIF removal and format handling match the main compressor.

Questions

Will the result always be under 20 KB?

No, and no honest tool can guarantee that for every image. The compressor lowers quality and, if needed, dimensions within a bounded number of steps. If it still cannot reach 20 KB, it shows “Closest possible” with the actual size.

Why is my photo still far above 20 KB?

Fine detail, noise and large dimensions cost bytes. A 4000 px photo often needs to be scaled down first. Set a maximum dimension of 800–1200 px for a 20 KB target, or start from a smaller image.

Is 20 KB enough for an ID photo?

That depends entirely on the form you are submitting to. Many portals ask for 10–100 KB but each has its own pixel and format rules. Check the requirement, then set the matching dimensions and size here.

Does it upload my photo?

No. The image never leaves your device: it is decoded and re-encoded by your browser, and the download is created from memory.
