Signature resizer

Resize a signature for a form

Signature fields are small and strict. Set the exact pixels and size cap from your form, keep the aspect ratio, and check the downloaded file before submitting.

Your files are processed in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Steps

  1. Scan or photograph the signature on plain paper with even lighting.
  2. Add the file and choose a preset, or type the exact size from the form.
  3. Use Contain if the whole signature must stay visible; Crop only when you can lose the edges.
  4. Set the size cap, resize, and open the downloaded image to confirm legibility.

Signature questions

What size should a signature image be?

Most portals ask for something between 200×80 and 600×200 px at 10–50 KB. Those are not universal rules. Use the numbers published by the form you are filling and treat the presets here as a convenience only.

Should I use JPEG or PNG for a signature?

PNG keeps strokes crisp and the background clean. JPEG compresses photos better but can blur thin pen strokes. If the portal accepts PNG, try it first at the required dimensions.

My scan has a grey background. Can I clean it?

This tool does not threshold or whiten scans; it only resizes and encodes. Use contain mode with a white background for JPEG output, or clean the scan in an image editor before uploading.

Why does cropping cut my signature?

Crop fills the target box and trims the overflow. If the signature is not centred, switch to Contain to keep the whole stroke, and adjust the target dimensions instead.
