Choosing a background

Size and quality

JPEG quality around 85–92% is usually indistinguishable at normal viewing size. Below 60% you will see blocking around text and sharp edges. For a hard KB limit, convert first and then use the compressor with a target.

PNG to JPG questions

What happens to transparent areas?

JPEG has no alpha channel. Transparent pixels are filled with the background colour you pick, white by default. Check the preview and the note before downloading.

Can I keep transparency?

Not in JPEG. If transparency matters, keep the file as PNG or convert to WebP instead.

How do I control the file size?

Lower the quality slider. If you need a specific KB ceiling, use the compressor with a target after converting.

Is the output validated?

Yes. The produced bytes are checked for the JPEG signature before the download link is enabled, and the dimensions come from the real output.
