Image converter

Convert an image between JPG, PNG and WebP

Pick the output format and quality. The tool re-encodes the pixels and verifies the produced file signature before enabling the download.

Your files are processed in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged.

Format cheat sheet

How the format is verified

After encoding, the tool reads the first bytes of the result and compares them with the signature of the requested format. If they disagree, no download is offered. This is why a renamed file can never pass as a conversion.

Conversion questions

Which conversions are supported?

JPG, PNG and WebP in any direction the browser can encode. WebP encoding is available in current Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari; if it is missing the option is disabled with an explanation.

Which format should I choose?

JPEG for photographs, PNG for screenshots, logos and transparency, WebP when you want small files and the destination accepts it.

Does converting change the dimensions?

No. This converter keeps the pixel width and height. Use the resizer if you also need different dimensions.

Can I convert HEIC, AVIF or SVG?

Not on this page. HEIC support depends on the operating system, AVIF encoding is not uniform, and SVG can carry script so it is deliberately excluded. Unsupported files are rejected with a clear message.
